The Ministry of Pudding opened in Torquay in August 2014 with our first pud ‘Puddesley’. It was a big occasion and he even had his own birth announcement in the local media. We currently make 120,000 individual puddings a week in the factory in Coombe Road, Watcombe.

But before we arrived, the factory had a number of incarnations. It was a ‘Do It All’ DIY shop for time before converting into a food factory called Twin Chefs. After that it became Creative Foods, owned by Brakes. They produced frozen food, hot desserts and traditional British cakes at the site. One of Torquay's largest factory premises, it made headlines when it closed in August 2013 when production was moved to Taunton, with the loss of some 90 jobs.

A government minister visits the site. Nick Boles, Minister of State for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, said the success of the business was a ‘great news story’ for Torbay.
